terristories loosely depicts the last year and a half of the artists’ life experiences- primarily focusing on her recent move from The South to her new home here in Wilmington, De. The efforts to conceive and the recent birth of boy/girl twins are also influential concepts in this series of paintings. As the artist adapts to new territories (geographical & figurative), she processes change through creating abstracted, indistinct stories that capture both the essence of landscape & the assimilation to new culture whilst navigating her way through motherhood.
T.S. Kist recently relocated from Savannah, Ga to Wilmington, De. and welcomed twin babies on December 31, 2012. Works range from abstracted acrylic paintings on canvas & paper to experimental sculptural works using non-traditional found objects.
Her paintings have been featured in the national publication, New American Paintings; recipients of several awards; and have been collected throughout the country. Kist was awarded an artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center this past Fall as a sculpture artist. After the birth of her babies, she continues to create and paint as she adjusts to her new surroundings.
