ALTERNATIVES MUSEUM SHOP/VISITOR SERVICES PART-TIME HELP
We are seeking responsible, eager, and creative part-time staff to assist with visitor services and our museum shop.
General Description: Promote a positive visitor experience while enforcing Museum procedures and ensuring that the visitors’ experience at the Museum is a positive one. The Visitor Service Team Member provides excellent customer service through greeting visitors, processing museum shop and gallery sales, while helping to ensure the safety of visitors and art works in the museum and Alternatives Museum Shop.
Hours: Any or all of the following - Thursdays or Fridays, 9:45 am-5:15 pm, Saturdays 9:45 am-5:15 pm, Sundays 11:45 am-5:15 pm, and occasional special events held in the evenings or on the weekends. Schedule can vary depending on the staff member's availability and the number of shifts desired as there are several staff members that serve in this role. Shifts would never exceed 29 hours per week. Position is available immediately.
Qualifications: Candidates must enjoy working with the public and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, the ability to remain professional in stressful circumstances, and the ability to problem solve on the spot. Must have good computer skills and be willing to learn new computer programs. Experience in customer service required. Dependability is a must. Must dress according to professional standards.
Education: B.A. or B.S. preferred. Background in art a plus.

The Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts is a dynamic gathering place for the exploration of new ideas at the intersection of technology, art, and design. Position & Responsibilities:
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of the DCCA and is responsible for its overall management including its physical, human, and financial resources, its exhibitions and programs, and its future growth and development. The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors through the president of the Board and works closely with the Executive Committee and other standing and ad hoc committees of the Board. The Executive Director is an ex-officio member of the Board and its committees.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Providing the organizational vision and leadership for DCCA's artistic direction, growth and development. Guide and direct staff to identify innovative ways to carry out an exciting and innovative strategic plan, recently revamped by the Board of Directors.
* Ensuring that DCCA's reputation and service to the public are of high quality and engender understanding of, and enthusiasm for, the contemporary arts and creative use of technology.
* Effectively representing the DCCA to business leaders, public officials and community, professional, civic and private agencies; and generating support and enthusiasm for DCCA's mission, goals and programs.
* Maintaining existing funding sources and cultivating new ones; working with development, marketing and other personnel on grant proposals and fund raising events; joining Board members and appropriate staff in all other fund solicitation; and overseeing earned income opportunities through the rental of the facility, promotion of the museum's shop, art sales, and other initiatives.
* Supervising, initiating and implementing exhibitions and education programs that support the DCCA's mission, in collaboration with appropriate staff; maximizing the resources of the DCCA by engaging in cooperative programming and joint ventures with other organizations locally, regionally and nationally.
* Developing the museum's budget; ensuring that staff and programming keep within the allocated financial resources; overseeing the day-to-day financial position of the DCCA and providing the Board with timely financial data for budgeting decisions and fund raising plans.
* Selecting, developing, evaluating, and maintaining a highly qualified and motivated professional staff; delegating specific responsibilities and appropriate authority; and maintaining morale and providing direction.
* Taking a leadership role, whenever possible, in the local, regional and national artistic community to further the goals of collaboration and cooperation among arts organizations and to expand interest in and support for the museum.
* Planning and overseeing the repair and maintenance of the physical plant.
* Strong financial management and analytical skills; understanding of finances, budgets, and investments; a commitment to work within budgetary constraints; and proven fund raising skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills are required for networking, business development of earned income streams, and cultivation and growth of government, corporate, and individual donors.
* Leadership, managerial ability, and the capacity to create a climate that fosters communication and cooperation while holding the staff and the organization to high levels of artistic quality and productivity.
* Self-motivated and creative, an excellent communicator, and enjoys interacting with the DCCA's various constituencies. S/he will be an inventive thinker, possess a lively curiosity, will be an articulate spokesperson for the museum, and will demonstrate a firm commitment to attracting the broadest and most diverse audience possible.
* A minimum of ten years of professional experience in nonprofit or comparable organization, as well as supervisory experience, are required. Professional experience in directing a nonprofit arts organization as well as understanding of the curatorial process are highly desired.
* Strongest possible educational background combining art and business is necessary. A graduate degree is preferred. Undergraduate degree or professional work should reflect an understanding and appreciation of art and related creative fields.

PART-TIME SECURITY GUARD
A Part-Time Security Guard is needed for weekend and evening hours at the DCCA. The hours would include working Saturdays 10am - 5pm, and/or Sundays 12pm - 5pm, and evening coverage during special events (such as First Friday Art on the Town evenings). Part-time guards at the DCCA are many times artists still in school or recently graduated, who want to remain involved in the art-related field. Additional security and CPR experience is a plus.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Part-Time Security Guard is to ensure a positive, safe and secure environment for the entire facility. This includes the public viewing contemporary art in the galleries, the studio artists in the facilities, and the office area for the staff. The Security Guard is responsible for the overall well-being of the artwork, public safety, building safety, and employee safety at all times while on duty.

The DCCA seeks DCCA Teaching Artist Positions for various programs. Responsibilities vary depending on the program.
