Perpetual Pivots

Exhibit Dates:
Oct 5, 2011 - Oct 30, 2011
Elizabeth Denison Hatch Gallery

Muted palette, texture, repetition and circles are some of the common themes found in the work of artists Delainey Barclay and Ruth Sklut. Although they work in different media and approach their art in varied ways, the outcome is wonderfully cohesive.

Both artists use circles in a repetitive way that can suggest many things to the viewer.  Perfection, wholeness, spirit, femininity, cycles, womb, sun, space, the list goes on. The universality of this symbol is what gives it its strength in art and why these artists are attracted to it. The muted palette is another thread that ties their work together and allows the viewer to comfortably move throughout this well integrated show.
