DRIFT: A Series of Citywide Engagements

Mar 1, 2013 - Jun 16, 2013 For the first DRIFT, Philadelphia-based artist Lauren Ruth will organize the world’s slowest marathon in the city of Wilmington. Evolving out of a running club that Ruth is organizing for ImPERFECT CITY, the artist brings local communities together through this interactive project. Ruth’s “marathon in installments” invites the public to participate in a 26.2-mile race, taking place over the course of two and a half months. The artist partners with participants to design their own marathon by suggesting running routes that highlight the neighborhoods they inhabit.
