DCCA Studio artists Emily Artinian and Caroline Chen explore storytelling, food, art, travel and people: the common language between us all in their exhibition Fish Tales.
The story begins with Emily’s travels to Estonia where she led a student group who dined in a seaside restaurant. The remnants of their meal together here become a collective visual work in photographs and a sculptural video installation.
The narrative continues through a series of 12 portraits translated through a shared love of food, art, travel, community, spoken word, visual imagery and a bit of imagination.
Emily Artinian, originally from Chester County, PA, worked and taught in London for the past decade and recently moved to Delaware. She makes artist’s multiples and works across media, with a focus on literature, storytelling, and social interactions.
Caroline Chen is a Delaware based artist. Her painterly style is rooted in reality but aims to express the emotion and the experience of the subject in addition to its outward appearance. Caroline maintains a studio at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts.
