Summer Camp Sessions
Session 1: Ages 4 – 6
Art from A to Z: Using Text in Art
June 27 – July 1, 9 am – 12 pm, Half Day
This week our youngest campers will rediscover and reimagine their ABCs in new and exciting ways. Using a multitude of media and some unconventional approaches, campers will use found objects, flashlights, balloons, and even their bodies to stretch the boundaries of how text can be used as artistic expression.
Session 2: Ages 7 – 9
Upcycle It: From Trash to Treasure
July 11 – July 15 10 am – 4 pm
You know the saying, “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure.” It takes a creative and artistic mind to see the potential in the discarded. In this fun filled week of transformation, students will create works inspired by contemporary artists such as El Anatsui and Aaron Johnson. Projects will include up-cycled sock monsters, discarded CD etchings, and a collaborative coral reef installation.
Session 3: Ages 7 – 9
geoGraphic: Exploring Art and Geometry
July 18 – July 22, 10 am – 4 pm
Explore the world of geometry through fun hands-on art activities. Campers will experiment with a wide range of media to create individual and collaborative sculptures, paintings, and designs. Projects will include intricate tessellated block printing, hanging polyhedron lights, and colorful mixed media pixel portraits.
Session 4: Ages 10 – 12
Art in Motion: Discovering Performance Art
July 25 – July 29, 10 am – 4 pm
Express yourself in this fun and energetic week exploring the many aspects of performance art. Be inspired by contemporary performers to design and create characters, scenery, props, and choreography that will be Out Of This World!
Session 5: Ages 10 – 12
First Impressions: Contemporary Printmaking
August 1 – August 5, 10 am – 4 pm
This week will be sure to leave an impression as campers learn about the many ways to create prints using traditional, contemporary, and unconventional printmaking techniques such as relief printing, mono printing, and stamp carving! Sign up today and put your stamp on the world!
Session 6: Ages 13 – 15
Juxta-pose: Reimagining the Figure
August 8 – August 12, 1 pm – 4 pm, Half Day
Revisit the tradition of the human figure through a contemporary lens. Create figure drawing, paintings, and sculptures with a twist!
